New Releases of ABT PowerCAMPUS and IQ.Web Software Bring Integrated Course Management Functionality to Educational Institutions
Newtown Square, PA November 1 2001 — ABT today announced the availability of a new release of its PowerCAMPUS and IQ.Web student- and administrative-information management software for educational institutions. Current licensees of these software products will benefit from a number of new enhancements, including a Gradebook module that provides integrated course management functionality for faculty.
The Gradebook can be created and easily configured for each course so that faculty can post all grades online for students to view anytime, anywhere. Faculty have an unlimited number of grading activities that they can enter into their gradebook such as assignments, tests, presentations, quizzes, and papers. Faculty can view students’ grades by using several different views including View by Student and View by Grade Activity. The Gradebook can also be downloaded to view in Microsoft Excel.
Faculty can setup their Gradebook to either use institution-defined grade mappings or their own grade mappings per credit type. They may choose to have the mid-term and final grades calculated on a total points scale or a weighted average scale. Once they have setup their grade mappings and entered grades into the gradebook, IQ.Web automatically calculates the mid-term and final grades. These grades may then be recorded in PowerCAMPUS.
A “wizard-enhanced” interface enables faculty to upload course documents for their classes such as a syllabus, assignments, handouts, tests and presentations. Subsequently, students can view all of this information and submit their completed assignments, handouts, tests, and presentations online for faculty to review. A variety of file formats can be uploaded such as Microsoft Office, HTML, digital images, eBooks, digital audio files, and digital video files. For faculty who like to publish course documents in advance they can assign a date that the document should appear to students as well as a date that the document should become unavailable to students.
